College of Foreign Languages started from English, Japanese and Korean classes of a secondary technical school established in 1992. The year 1999 witnessed the establishment of Department of Foreign Languages, including Business English and Business Korean. Then in 2002, Department of Foreign Languages was divided into two: English Department and Applied Foreign Languages Department. In 2005 the two departments respectively became College of Western Languages and College of Oriental Languages. In 2013, the two colleges merged into College of Foreign Languages. Now the college has 3 undergraduate majors: English, Korean and Japanese; 6 three-year majors: Applied English, Applied Japanese, Applied Korean, Applied Russian, Applied German and Applied French. In 2005, Applied Japanese was named the provincial demonstration specialty; in 2010, Applied Korean was named the provincial characteristic specialty and in 2011, Japanese was listed among the provincial characteristic undergraduate majors.

 In order to deepen the practice teaching reform, the college established the International Language Cultural Center, including 30 laboratories such as Global Village, Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory, Audio-Visual Classroom for teaching foreign languages. With the use of BB teaching platform, informatization and intelligentialization has been improve in foreign languages teaching. 

The college attaches great importance to improving teaching and researching teams and do its best to introduce some high-level talents. At present, there are more than 70 professional teachers and foreign experts.
